Turtle Release in celebration of Emancipation Day.

Cayman Turtle Centre: Island Wildlife Encounter
Tue 7 May, 2024
9:00am to 10:00am

Join Cayman Turtle Conservation and Education Centre for a special  Turtle Release in celebration of Emancipation Day.

This event marks the reinstatement of Emancipation Day, a significant milestone in the history of the Cayman Islands. In commemoration of the 62 years that Emancipation Day was not on our calendars, a special turtle weighing 62 pounds will be released into the sea.

Gather with us as we come together to honor the resilience and spirit of our ancestors, reflecting on the journey towards freedom and equality. Witness the symbolic release of the turtle as it embarks on its own journey, echoing the emancipation of our people.

Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to be a part of history in the making. See you at Governor’s Beach for the Emancipation Day Turtle Release!
