Like the more eastern districts, Savannah is largely residential, but it is the home of Pedro St James, a national historical site and the oldest-existing structure in Cayman. Early in summer, you'll see breathtaking flora and fauna as you drive through Savannah as the poinciana trees, of which the area has an overwhelming abundance, are in bloom.
Savannah is also the home of Spotts Beach, a beautiful area well-known for daily turtle sightings. Take your mask and snorkel and lounge all day on this more rugged coast. However, the sea is much more unruly than the calm waters of Seven Mile Beach and the current has been known to sweep people offshore, so be vigilant. And bird watchers will enjoy a visit to the Governor Michael Gore Bird Sanctuary.
Countryside Shopping Village is a great spot on to stop at for food and shopping. You'll find popular eateries, including Chicken! Chicken! and Cimboco, as well as a Fosters, a bank and other helpful amenities.
