Free Tour of the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands
Wander around Grand Cayman's National Gallery’s (NGCI) state-of-the art facility and learn about Cayman’s cultural history through their permanent collection of art.
Loosely assembled by decade, the collection traces an historical and stylistic journey - starting with the visionary markings of self-taught artists like Gladwyn “Miss Lassie” Bush, moving forward to the early work of realist painters who sought to capture the picturesque nature of the Caymanian landscape, and finally to contemporary, experimental artworks by collectives like the Native Sons. The collection rotates twice per annum and features over 50 artists.
The Lower Gallery hosts new exhibitions on a quarterly basis featuring local and international artists. These have included a schedule of diverse exhibitions by such renowned figures as Salvador Dali, Keith Haring, and Henry Moore and numerous solo and group shows by Caymanian artists.
Once you have finished exploring the exhibitions you can relax with a self-serve coffee and take a walk in the Sculpture Garden. Then browse a selection of merchandise inspired by the National Collection, Caymanian handmade crafts, exclusive NGCI jewellery lines and more in the NGCI Gift Shop.
Visit the NGCI’s website for details on their education schedule, film and lecture screenings, events and family activities.
